I suspect that your folders permissions may be broken.

For a workaround, check that the DDU folder (and its subfolder ) have the "SYSTEM" permission with full control.

This is should usually be the case on a healthy system.

Hi I am having this same problem.

I've checked my permissions and SYSTEM has full control

I've opened it outside of safe mode just to be sure it opened and it did. But in safe mode it says file cannot be accessed by the system.

Hi,
Do you know what file it can't access. Is there a DDU log created when you attempt to open it?
If not, check if there is an error generated in the windows event viewer (under application)

It seems an entry log was made but I have to be honest I'm only following step by step instructions. Something is causing my computer to crash after I've just installed a new gpu so that's why I'm using this. As for what it does and what stuff means I have no idea how to read this log haha

This is the log that was created when you were not in safe mode. It is more the one that get created (if any) when you are in safe mode.
In worse case, DDU can still be run in nornal mode too. It is just it may not be able to remove completely everything

Hmm then noting got made from when I was in safe mode.

I'll try it not in safe mode and see what happens

It's probably because of OneDrive. if you extract DDU on your Desktop and your Desktop is being synchronized to OneDrive something goes wrong to the Permissions. (I can't tell what exactly) Go and extract DDU in a folder that isn't being synchronized to OneDrive and it should work in Safe Mode after that

Awesome! 2 yrs later you solved my mystery.

Was going insane trying to figure out why I could no longer access DDU.
