For a guide , check : https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/ddu-guide-tutorial

Recommended usage:
-You MUST disconnect your internet or completely block Windows Update when running DDU until you have re-installed your new drivers.
-DDU should be used when having a problem uninstalling / installing a driver or when switching GPU brand.
-DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing.
-DDU will not work on network drive. Please install in a local drive (C:, D: or else).
-The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best.
-If you are using DDU in normal mode, Clean, reboot, clean again, reboot.
-Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe).
-It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues.
Note: If you have issues for downloading the file, it could be one of your extension interfering with our hotlink protection.

Here is an application from 1 of my partner that we recommend.
It is a useful tool that may help you update outdated drivers.

GeForce 441.20 drivers (only displayt driver & usb-c, nothing else)
After using the latest DDU this was left in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\PnpLockdownFiles\%SystemRoot%/system32/nvppcgenco64_138831832.dll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\PnpLockdownFiles\%SystemRoot%/system32/nvppcgenco64_138831832.dll

You see, the number after nvppcgenco64_ may differ, I also saw it like "nvppcgenco64_1127831.dll" (I guess it's the USB-C driver version). Should it be removed or should it stay?

If the files are not present at the specified location, they can be removed.

<Message>Trying to impersonate the SYSTEM account...</Message>

</Event>

-<Warning>

<Time>2/5/2020 7:58:23 AM</Time>

<Message>SYSTEM account impersonalisation failed ! Cleanup may not be efficient. </Message>

</Warning>

Be sure to run as admin, also be sure to be on latest version of DDU. Try to send me full log too.
Also be sure the current (and subfolder) where DDU is installed have FULL permission for the "SYSTEM" account.

I mean is DDU supposed to remove those registry keys or it isn't?
By the way after cleaning after 441.87 it left the following:

Code: Select all

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\PnpLockdownFiles\%SystemRoot%/system32/nvppcgenco64_138831832.dll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\PnpLockdownFiles\%SystemRoot%/system32/nvppcgenco64_138831832.dll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\nvlddmkm
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\UcmCxUcsiNvppc
And one more thing: I uninstalled Realtek HDA drivers and after cleaning them with DDU there's something left in the registry, and the same question - is DDU supposed to remove them or they may stay?
The left registry keys are in the attached file.

Theses should be remove in a future version of DDU. It requires code update especially for the nvppcgenco64_138831832

Hello, please teach DDU how to fully remove the remainings of these drivers: 1, 2, 3, 4 (all are variants of a Realtek Audio driver for different ASUS motherboards), thank you.

Links are broken. Do you have the motherboard model instead?
