(intel) Install not allowed because UWD is installed

Post by treemancan »

First let me start by saying that this is the only utility that can fix my issue on an individual basis! and for that I'm extremely grateful! My issue however spans across many machines and I was hoping to get some insight on how I can solve for all machines at once.

here is the package im trying to install for a fair amount of dells>>
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en ... 90-laptop

it won't let me install because "!Package is Legacy. Install not allowed because UWD is installed."
attached log>>
Video_Driver_2XGKG_WN32_25.20.100.6472_A12.txt
found more info here >> https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... ivers.html

I can /force uninstall all drivers using pnputil, reboot. But error persists.

DDU is able to resolve my issue because of it's registry cleaning phase I believe. DDU log does not provide any insight on what reg keys its cleaning.

I would be extremely grateful for any assistance in identifying where this UWD key is found so I can delete it and run my driver package for my environment!

Please and thank you!

I've looked a little and I can't really confirm what is the exact key and the reason is that when the DCH driver arrived, I did many additions and changed.
TO find the exact one would be quite time consuming for me.
The things you could check that may work is
-removing the Software component related to intel in device manager
-When the driver is removed, be sure that this service is removed too, there is some DCH info there: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\igfx
-Have a look there too HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DeviceSetup\InstalledPfns

After uninstalling the driver, I will make sure that the associated service is removed from the registry.
I'll navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\igfx and confirm that the DCH is no more present from my registry.
