For a guide , check : https://www.wagnardsoft.com/content/ddu-guide-tutorial

Recommended usage:
-You MUST disconnect your internet or completely block Windows Update when running DDU until you have re-installed your new drivers.
-DDU should be used when having a problem uninstalling / installing a driver or when switching GPU brand.
-DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing.
-DDU will not work on network drive. Please install in a local drive (C:, D: or else).
-The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best.
-If you are using DDU in normal mode, Clean, reboot, clean again, reboot.
-Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe).
-It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues.
Note: If you have issues for downloading the file, it could be one of your extension interfering with our hotlink protection.

Here is an application from 1 of my partner that we recommend.
It is a useful tool that may help you update outdated drivers.

Hi Wagnard,

Thank you as always. Still present some lefties after performing DDU (Safe mode), clean and restart. I'm going to send you via e-mail my DDU logs and registry keys.

Kind regards.

In safe mode while using Clean and Restart/Shutdown option to remove 430.64, the system does not automatically restart/shutdown and DDU cannot be closed.

It is not really clear in the logs, but it seems that DDU was stuck at removing files.
There is a few possibles reasons I see for that.
1- DDU issue somewhere
2- DDU really didn't finished cleaning
3- A HDD problem on you side. (recommended doing a chkdsk)

If you intend to try it again, check it it still does not restart. And while you are at that state, check if there is HDD activity.
If HDD light is full lit, it probably means a problem with the HDD.

Hi

I registered to report the exact same issue

the system does not automatically restart/shutdown and DDU cannot be closed.
it just hangs on the cleaning directory spot

I reverted to the previous version DDU v18.0.1.1 and the issue went away

There is no drive light activity during the hang. I did a chkdsk and checked S.M.A.R.T. and it seems my SSD is fine.

I ran V18.0.1.2 a few more times and it still hangs every time, even with no driver installed. I tried V18.0.1.1 and it does not have this problem.

What’s strange is that when I first used V18.0.1.2 to remove 425.31, it did not have this issue. It was only after I tried to clean 430.64 with it that it started hanging.

Thanks to you both, i'm investigating.

Edit: Got a repro on a Windows 7 VM. Got an idea of what is wrong but still investigating.
At first look there is "chances" that this will happens but not always. Something to do with timers and/or multi-threading.

Edit2 : here is a test version for both of you. Tell me if it still happen. https://www.wagnardsoft.com/DDU/downloa ... 20beta.exe
