Windows 10, DDU, Alienware 17 R4, No more brightness controls.

Hello Guys/Gals,
I was updating my drivers the other day and used DDU to remove the drivers and then I installed the newest ones from Dell (Intel Driver) and NVIDIA.
I now realize that I do not have brightness control anymore. Brightness is @ 0, and changing it does nothing on the laptop display.
So I did some hunting and I found that it is probably caused by not having the right monitor driver.
Right now it is 'Generic Monitor' and when I try to update it wants to put 'Generic PnP Monitor' but gets this error "The system cannot find the file specified".
Now I am lost.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I had a laptop with an AMD card that something similar with brightness occurred. The problem was the driver and a regkey had to manually be modified to get it back.
For your case, you could try to roll back using system restore and see if the brightness is fixed.

Hello Wagnard,
Sorry for the late reply, but I have no restore points to go back to, probably my own doing.
I don't know if it is a regkey or not, but the Generic Monitor driver that cannot be updated to Generic PnP Monitor, is also causing my Tobii to not work because it is part of the laptop.
It is looking like the only thing I can do to fix the driver problems is to reinstall windows... bugger. almost 300GB of Steam games.

Move them to another partition / create one.

Yeah, I was looking into that after I posted that reply, I got another 1TB of SSD storage, just a pain to reinstall the other apps to get back to work.
Oh well.
Thanks for your time.
