Win 10 x64 Creators Update -- DDU Doesn't Start

Post by cryohellinc »

Good day,

Having an odd issue with DDU, after installing Creators update. It just doesn't start. After clicking, nothing happens. Tried running via admin, and different compatibility modes, result is the same.

Any ideas here?

No issue on my end here with the creator update. Tested under a VM.

Check your event log for error related to DDU or try to to start our system manually in Safe Mode and see if it start there.

No problem, My first language is french (from Quebec, Canada)

As I can see at first, it fail under the d3d3.dll module.
Either check if you have ever modified this file or modified Direct3D in general or it could simply be a graphic card driver issue with the Creator Update.

An alternative would be to manually boot into safe mode and launch DDU from there.

The date that file was modified shows that it was the creators update that modified it.

I tried to reinstall dx9 June 2010 Redist + Latest AMD drivers to check, but the problem persists.

I also have this problem with some other .Net apps (not all of them though, and the version of .net framework they were compiled with seems to not matter at all)

Edit : Closing MSI Afterburner + RTSS resolved it, but it was working before the Creators Update :(

Edit 2 : Instead of closing Afterburner + RTSS, just add a profile in RTSS, point it to the DDU .exe and set it's app detection level to none.
