PIN not working in Safe Mode

Post by Keith Weisshar »

I rebooted into Safe Mode from DDU but in Safe Mode I get a messsage something happened and your PIN is not available. I'm running Windows 11 24H2 build 26100.2454. Why is PIN not available in Safe Mode. I can only use password if I disable the only allow windows hello sign in option in settings.

This is a 24h2 issue , so a mixrosoft issue. Even someone who never used DDU will get this message.
Note for some reason not everyone get this, so it must depend on system configuration or hardware

I tested it and found it quite compatible.

an update on this :

(NOT A DDU ISSUE) With Windows 11 24H2, your PIN may not work in Safe Mode.
Make sure you know your password and also check the following setting:

Go to Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options
Under Additional settings, turn off "For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device"
💡 Important: You must use your password at least once in normal mode before it will work in Safe Mode.
