Lost Network Connection After Using DDU

Post by pandrhola »

After running DDU and rebooting, my Wi-Fi/Ethernet adapters disappeared and I can’t get back online. Device Manager either shows nothing or gives an error on the adapters. Tried reinstalling drivers manually, but no luck.

Has anyone else run into this? What’s the best fix?

Hi,
2 question
- DDU version you used
- Do you see an "Option" subkey in here : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot

If you see that "Option" delete it and reboot.

I have the same problem! I really need your help. The first time I used your program to remove NVIDIA drivers when replacing an old card with a new one. After the reboot, the network adapter built into the motherboard disappeared. It's just not in the system. The DDU was running from safe mode. I turned it on using the standard msconfig utility.

DDU Version: 18.1.3.1

The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot branch is in the registry. But it doesn't delete it. And is it safe to delete it?

Please help me. Without the Internet, I disappear

Be careful, It's the 'option' folder IF PRESENT, that must be deleted, not the entire SafeBoot branch.

But normally with 18.1.3.1 this shouldn't happen.

Share a screenshot of you device manager and the registry key section.

Thank you so much for your reply. It turned out to be completely not in your utility, but in the BIOS of the motherboard and, probably, the crookedly written code. Maybe it will help someone, as kind people helped me on one forum. When replacing the old graphics card with a new one, the Ethernet network controller (MB Gigabyte Z890 Gaming X WiFi7) simply fell off. And no amount of CMOS resets, flashing, or reinstalling Windows helped. It turned out that it was necessary to do:

1. Go into the BIOS
2. TURN OFF the network card. Provided that her MAC address is undefined (N/A)
3. Save the BIOS settings and reboot into Windows
4. Turn off the computer
5. Completely de-energize it
6. Pull out the graphics card (IMPORTANT!). For some reason, it didn't work without it.
7. Remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes. or reset the CMOS via the switch (if available)
8. Insert the battery, video card and TURN on the computer
9. Go into the BIOS, check if the network card has a MAC address and if the network card itself is turned on.
10. Configure the BIOS for yourself (if necessary), because it has been reset to factory settings

Thanks, I appreciate you took the time to confirm this and the steps you took to fix it. It could be useful ton others.
