DDU NVidia missed a config setting

Post by codiak »

I found myself having to use DDU last night in an attempt to clear an issue with NVidia Broadcast installation and Fortnite.

I ran it multiple times from safe mode and it appeared to do a great job clearing out settings and files.
However, it missed 'setx DISABLE_NVIDIA_BROADCAST 1' which I had manually done in a shell yesterday morning.

With this value enabled: NVidia Broadcast fails on OTA and Fortnite failed at the Easy Cheat boot loader.

Once I cleared the setting NB install cleanly while Fornite required a reinstall

Thanks,
I'll check this out, I'm not familiar with that key so I'll research it a bit.

That’s expected behavior — DDU doesn’t remove environment variables like setx DISABLE_NVIDIA_BROADCAST 1.
It focuses on drivers, services, and registry entries related to NVIDIA, so that setting has to be cleared manually.

@codiak
If you can share with me a source for that settings I would appreciate as it seems to be undocumented.

GPT found it referenced in GitHub issues and Reddit threads related to LLM deployments.

It solved the vLLM issue I was having with a headless GPU combination, and I forgot about it after pulling the card.
