Recommended usage:

-You MUST disconnect your internet or completely block Windows Update when running DDU until you have re-installed your new drivers.
-If your system use BitLocker , PLEASE have your BitLocker recovery key nearby because your system may ask for it.
-DDU should be used when having a problem uninstalling / installing a driver or when switching GPU brand.
-DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing.
-DDU will not work on network drive or on a OneDrive location. Please install in a local drive (C:, D: or else).
-The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best.
-If you are using DDU in normal mode, Clean, reboot, clean again, reboot.
-Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe).
-It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues.
Note: If you have issues for downloading the file, it could be one of your extension interfering with our hotlink protection.

Hi @Wagnard. Just one question that's been on my mind lately.

Could you share and give some further insight into why it is recommended or required to untick the Remove NVIDIA Shader Cache setting when using ASC/NVIDIA App Auto Shader Compilation? And, why wouldn't this be recommended or required for complete/in-depth driver uninstallation when not using such NVIDIA shader compilation feature(s)? What are the key differentiating factors for those scenarios?

Best regards!

Simple,
ASC/NVIDIA App Auto Shader Compilation is simply recompiling the Shaders that was already compiled by an earlier driver. So if you flush the shader cache, the ASC will just do nothing.

That is what I observed, yes.

Thank you, @Wagnard. However, it's simple once you know that the ASC/NVIDIA App Auto Shader Compilation feature only works with shaders that were previously compiled by an earlier driver version.

Best regards.

Hi :-)

It's in French, but your web browser can translate it.

Alternatively, a concrete example on "Why clean up shaders?

Quick reminder / Forum rules

Hi, thanks for the post! Just a quick reminder to please avoid adding links to external services, as I have to apply the forum rules to everyone.

I'll tolerate this one and the others you did but just keep this in mind.
Thanks for understanding!

Hi Wagnard :-)

Yes, I know external links are a ...sensitive subject...
And I know that if you allow someone to do that... it opens the door to anything and everything.

I try to limit myself and ONLY provide links where "WagnardSoft" tools are mentioned, with explanations and additional information for french users
This is not spam, there is nothing to sell, etc., and all the links to download the programs are direct links.

For France, in the FR forum, I monitor DDU, WTools, ISLC (with a large FAQ), TdrManipulator, GiveMePower, etc., and all the tools are listed on the website as well.

The other solution would be a complete rewrite, here, in English (so no links).. But that requires time.

Hi,

I appreciate your honesty and I completely understand that your intent is to help the French-speaking community (Myself included :D ). Your work monitoring and explaining tools like DDU, WTools, and ISLC is definitely valuable.

However, to maintain a clean SEO profile and ensure the security of all users, I have to be strict and consistent with the rules for everyone. This is why I have recently decided to disable signatures site-wide. (many where posting .io sites)

Regarding the content, if you have the time in the future (AI can probably translate this on the fly) , translating some of your guides or FAQs directly into English posts here would be a fantastic contribution (I can even PIN them) and would avoid the need for external links entirely.

All of your earlier link you did, can stay, no need to remove.

Note: If necessary and you think it could be useful, maybe I could add a French section. I'm just not sure how many French speaking users are using DDU, I know there is a lot of English and Chinese.

Thanks for your understanding and I do appreciate your presence here on the forum.
