How to block GPU driver updates (NVIDIA) from Windows Update while keeping system updates?

Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a driver removal tool that can help you completely remove AMD (ATI), NVIDIA and Intel graphics drivers.

Hello,

It's curious.... If NOTHING works, Windows might have problems.

This might not be the correct registry key :; ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate is the good key

It is french but you can translate

https://www.malekal.com/desactiver-mise ... /?nonamp=1

And for For Windows 11 it's
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

Having a similar iss ue with mine. using DDU and option to disable windows driver updates is not working. The registry keys for Windows update are not in my system and it is fully up to date.

Just a small details, The DDU option doesn't prevent windows update finding your driver.
It prevent device manager from searching Windows update.

I added recently a way to block specific driver from windows update in my tool called Wagnardsoft Tools (WTools).
You can check it out here : viewtopic.php?t=5597

For it to work, just a little tip if you try it, the driver must not me installed yet from windows update to be able to block it.

If it doesn't list the driver it can't block it.. Same as wushowhide that doesn't list the driver. The Nvidia driver is being installed almost every day. I uninstalled it again today and yesterday and neither your tool or wushowhide ever lists the driver.

That's why I'm saying that the driver that you want to block, must not be installed yet.
You can only block it when Windows update is able to propose it to you. (Won't work if the driver from windows update is installed or if a newer version is installed)

Here is a little trick on how to do it.
When you use DDU, tick the option that say to not install the drive via windows update.

Do the clean and restart of DDU.

Once you are back in windows, (do not install any driver yet) go directly to WTools, and it will now show it and you will have the option to block it.

Hope that helps.

Here is a screenshot with your tool showing it is not listed and driver was rolled back 3 hours ago. Like I said neither your tool nor wushowhide sees the Nvidia driver.

Windows update probably don't see it too at this time.

A Roolback will prevent windows update to show it too as it is technically still present in the system (in the driver store).

You can probably see it with WTools and the driver store manager tools. (remove it there and try again)

My tools probably work as "wushowhide" and that tool has the same 'rules' for it to work.

In simple words, it won't appear in neither tools if it doesn't also appear in windows updates.

If you want it simple just do what I said on my earlier post with DDU. Not only a roolback.

If you can't still make it work, I could maybe help you with a remote session if you want. Let me know.

This is quite useful information; many people still think Display Driver Uninstaller completely blocks Windows Update, but in reality, it only prevents Device Manager from automatically searching for drivers.
