Safemode issue with DDU 18.0.8.3

Post by GodRise »

Hey!

Lates Windows 11 Home 24H2 (26100.2161) + fresh install. Cause critic failure of ddu safemod startup. Stucked savemod login screen and saying this error "Something happened and your PIN isn't available. Click to set up your PIN again." when I click on it, nothing happens. It's stuck. Restart pc not booting normal mod just again safemod. Agan and again. Only work if reinstall windows nothing others.

As far as I know, it's a 24H2 issue on some computer.
On mine, pin work no problem on safe mode.

To be able to boot back into safemode , boot in recovery or anything that bring you to a command prompt and then with BCDEDIT remove the safeboot value

This is not caused by DDU.

Go into safemode manually and you will see the same thing. DDU only add the "SAFEBOOT" value to make the computer boot into safemode. Nothing else.

As for why the pin doesn't work, I don't know.
Do you use a microsoft account or another provider account? Is your tpm module enabled in bios ? Is the computer supported by microsoft or its an old one ? Fresh install or upgrade?

All I can say is DDU was tested successfully on all computer I have on my side and they have been all tested with latest 24H2 with a PIN with a microsoft account and with TPM enabled without an issue.

Here is a workaround that will allow you to use your password in safemode too.

under Accounts> sign-in options
Additional settings
turn off only allow windows hello sign-in

Edit 18.0.8.4 will remove some pain for user who cant login in safemode too. They should be stuck in safemode now.

I check, but not see this option. "under Accounts - sign-in options - Additional settings - turn off only allow windows hello sign-in"
